La coalición de la izquierda italiana, liderada por Pier Luigi Bersani ganó la mayoría de los escaños de la Cámara de Diputados, tras las elecciones realizadas en los últimos dos días en ese país europeo, caracterizadas por la baja participación y protestas.
Así lo confirmó este lunes el Ministerio del Interior, que con el 99,9 por ciento de los centros de votación escrutados, indicó que la coalición de izquierda obtuvo un 29,55 por ciento de los sufragios; lo que le permitió ganar 340 de los 630 escaños en la Cámara baja.
El organismo gubernamental también señaló que la alianza de derecha de Silvio Berlusconi obtuvo un 29,18 por ciento de votos, lo que lo dejó en segundo lugar, pese a la mínima distancia.
En el Senado, según las primeras cifras del Ministerio del Interior, la izquierda ganó 97 escaños con 31,63 por ciento de los votos, contra 110 para la derecha, aunque esta sólo obtuvo 30,71 por ciento de los votos.
Ante estos resultados, Bersani admitió que "se abre una situación muy delicada" para el país, y manifestó que su formación gestionará "la responsabilidad" que les han conferido las urnas "en el interés de Italia".
La coalición de centroderecha, por su parte, ha pedido al Ministerio del Interior que no declare un ganador, dado lo ajustado en porcentaje y número de votos con el centroizquierda.
En una comparecencia de prensa en Roma, el exministro de Justicia Angelino Alfano, secretario político del Pueblo de la Libertad (PDL) de Berlusconi, aseguró que los resultados del Ministerio de Interior son solo "oficiosos" y "sujetos inevitablemente a un margen de error".
El sistema electoral italiano es complicado a nivel del Senado, donde bonifica a la mayoría sobre una base regional, de modo que casi 12 horas después del fin del comicios los resultados siguen siendo inciertos.
A estos comicios han sido llamados a las urnas los 47 millones de italianos. Las elecciones se han celebrado durante dos días, el 24 y 25 de febrero.
